Wild Animals in Chesterfield County

I have been meaning to write about out County’s  wonderful children programs for a while now.  In the past year we have seen:  Scenes from the Nutcracker, local animals and snakes, a magician, a juggler, numerous puppet shows and silly acting all for free.  Yes free.  There is really no better way then to spend a weekend then participating in one of these amazing boredom busting opportunities.

This past one involved wild animal petting zoo, which was the same petting zoo that we used for our birthday party few years back.

This time however they (Animals Unlimited) did not bring their almost domesticated animals but wild and strange ones.

Like this hedgehog that you could have looked at closely or touch with gloves provided.

There was a snake

Array

A bunch of reptiles out of which the bearded dragon got the most petting

Array

Kangaroo, Lemur and Everyone’s favorite Capuchin Monkey that spent the entire time eating a lolly pop.  Fortunately for me and the kiddos those animals were out of a petting reach but could have been started at.

So open up your local library program guide or county program list I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised at all it has to offer no matter where you live.  Next for us a theater production of the Christmas Carol.

We just saw them this past weekend at the library! (Your pictures are great by the way…I couldn’t get a good one to save my life.) We see these animals a lot of places, but one of the most impressive events was at Crestwood Elementary’s nature and plant sale in the spring. We had so much fun there last year! (We’re not from that school either, we just had a really good time and learned a lot.)
