Just in case you missed my last post this week we are all excited about the school being out and are thinking of creative ways to exhaust our children during their summer vacation. Sure you can park them in front of the TV and force to watch Spongebob Marathon but that will only last for a couple of hours, maybe days if your kids are actually chained into the couch, which may not be a bad idea but don’t forget that summer has just started so lets leave that for July.
Personally I like to spend long hours in local Richmond parks and playgrounds making sure your children enjoy the outside as much as possible. In the next week or so I will be visiting the area playgrounds and letting you know all about them including pictures and maps so you can safely get there. So next time you are looking for a park to go with your kids just click on the “Playgrounds and Parks in Richmond” link on the left side or go straight there through this link: http://polwig.com/home/category/playgrounds-and-parks-in-richmond/
Today we are visiting Deep Run Park in Henrico, VA. Once you enter the park the playground is located at the end of the park. Keep driving you did not miss it, just look for a little sliding castle which is the main focal point and really the only attraction in Deep Run Park.
The castle is realtively small with few slides but lot so windows, nooks and crannies to hide and slide under.
It is also filled with little gadgets like nice set of binoculars so you can spy on your kid
Wait, who is spying on whom? Oh Hello there Baby !!!
The other side of the park includes this device which for me looks like something Chuck Norris should be promoting on his next infomercial and not something you find in a park. But what do I know. Maybe instead of wondering I should be using it for sit ups and pull ups.
Or at least using the monkey bars like this super athletic boy here. No not the one that has fallen on his tushie.
Here is another view of the castle
This is the playground in the nutshell. The restrooms are close but I have not gotten chance to visit them. If you have feel free to leave a comment as to their cleanliness.
Positives: This playground is nicely shaded therefore it will be easily enjoyed in hot summer days. The castle is really nice, toddler friendly and will allow for imaginative play. Knights, Princesses, Dragons are all welcome.
Negatives: This playgound is not fenced in which could be tough for a mom of multiples, unless one of them loves to swing. It is really long so it is hard to keep constant control of multiple children. The parking lot is never crowded but it is located close enough to the playground to worry any mother. The castle play area is really small therefore can become too crowded when occupied by more then five children.
