This park is Amazing, I love taking the Youngings there because it is so much fun for all of us. But, however, The Giant swing and the Baseball field are no more. But, i do hear that the Baseball field is being Turned into a water park! It’s nothing big though, just fountans and wet slides. But you never know!

This park is even more amazing in person.

Fantastic! Oh how I wish I could actually see this in person. I sent the link to my sweetie and he is sitting there going “Oh my goodness! Wow! Oh my goodness! That is Amazing. ”

We both love model trains and if we were ever so lucky as to have a big piece of property, we would most likely have a garden rail road. Of course we would have to negotiate whether the layout would be fantasy or realistic!

Thank you so, so much for sharing all these pictures. We are totally enjoying them.

We just saw them this past weekend at the library! (Your pictures are great by the way…I couldn’t get a good one to save my life.) We see these animals a lot of places, but one of the most impressive events was at Crestwood Elementary’s nature and plant sale in the spring. We had so much fun there last year! (We’re not from that school either, we just had a really good time and learned a lot.)

What a great post! I enjoyed every minute of virtually tagging along and seeing the kids enjoy the day.;

The fun in the hay brought back cherish memories of an afternoon in a barn filled with hay.

Whew! I am so glad you guys got out of there. I am also glad the aftermath of the storm can be dealt with. These awful storms can be so unpredictable. And we dive in a wooded area that looks for all the world like what you have shown in your pictures. And I KNOW first hand just how threatening and scary even a 40 MPH wind can be – don’t ever want to try out your winds!

I live on a fault line.. since I was in gradeschool they have been preparing us in the event of ‘the big one’ an earthquake on Utahns live.
It has not happened yet. But we are all as prepared as can be.
This is not to say that we have never felt the earth shake. There have been a few slight earthquakes which shook the walls but did little damage. And the one time a nearby explosives plant exploded a building and we thought it was an earthquake.
It can be a frightening experience even in small doses.
All you can do is what you have done, get as much information as you can.

Kathy I agree it’s very unnerving. My heart was galloping for a good five minutes afterwards. For me it brought back some very vivid memories from the 1989 earthquake in San Francisco. Memories I thought had faded but in that moment was as real as yesterday. Thank goodness earthquakes are a rare occurrence on the East Coast.

Isn’t Niagara Falls gorgeous? I lived there (Canadian side) for 10 years…then moved to Buffalo back in 2000. I’m actually still Canadian, but live in Richmond now! Stumbled across your website and love it! I did something similar (for fun things to do with family/kids, playground reviews, etc) back in Buffalo up until a few weeks ago when we moved. I hope to continue doing the same thing now that we’re in Richmond (just moved here this week, actually).

Very interesting. I agree, everything kind of felt like a quake after that. It really wasn’t that bad though for us, just the house shaking, but nothing fell. (I’ve had more break from my kids kicking balls in the house than the earthquake!)

Loved to read the things about you. It could have been things about me. I also do not watch TV and never saw any of those episodes you wrote about…. cartoons on you-tube are a whole other story though…
I have long lists too and too many projects and I will never be able to do everything I want to…
Languages… well with Swissgerman, German, English, Hebrew and French I might be able to call myself a multi-language- person…
Okay- I don’t have twins… and It’s not a real miracle that they are blond- even if me and my husband have brown hair… and well- I would love to bike accross the US! We just spoke the other day about it….

I don’t watch anything with Housewives either. I don’t watch my TV actually (Ramadan aside) but when I do I am addicted to shows like Selling New York (on HGTV) and MasterChef. This is interesting because I can’t cook and I know nothing about home decor. But I’m trying!

Dear Kathy,
I cannot tell you how deeply touched I am to get your message today. I have not read any other blogs or kept up with others since April and have been feeling incredible pressure and guilt knowing what I am missing and knowing how much interaction on my site means to me. I definitely want to give back to those who give so much to me… like you. I am working so hard right now at building the foundation of our local Slow Food Convivium and it is taking so much more time than I ever imagined. I had stopped blogging for several months as I felt it was something I could not do unless I was willing to read and write in other sites, too. However, my daughters and close friends have begged me to continue – and that is about all I am able to do right now – and miss my blogging friends so much. So, this award is a blessing and a gift that deeply touches me.

I love this park mostly becuz of the shade & the 2 play areas makes it big enough for many kids to play..we have had lots of lunches here!

The mysterious device is great fun for climbing for older kids, who look at it as a challenge. There are also two other, smaller playgrounds in the park, on either side of the lake. One is very tiny and geared towards toddlers, the other has a climbing set with a house and a slide, a pirate boat, a two-person teeter-totter, a tire swing, and overlooks the lake. the lake is a great place to bring old bread to feed the geese, and there are lots and lots of walking paths.

There is a bathroom accross the parkinglot, but I’m not sure its always open – i think its part of the striker park. there is also a water fountain on that building.

When we went to Canada we stopped for lunch both times at parks! The first was CUNNINGHAM FALLS STATE PARK in MD, which had a great playground and some wild animals. then we stopped at I think Sandy Point on the shore of Lake Ontario and picniced and swam! Parks are the best on long trips!

The same thing happened to us!! We found a kitten under our house one day…we have cats around that come in and out of our crawl space because one of the air vents is gone and it’s a perfect hole for them.

We kept our kitten. My husband never liked cats, but ended up liking this one. We’d never have a pet otherwise, so we’re glad she found us.

As a mother of 4, I think i can say with full certainty, YOU were more tired.

But oh, I know you guys had so much fun! I lived in Chicago as a child, and I remember going to the museums and seeing the dinosaurs WHICH I LOVED.

I’m sure when their adults they’ll look on it fondly as I do, and remember what a fantastic mom they have

Oh, I think you’re right. Maybe on some level, they already know. I love them loving each other. They are SO CUTE. I can feel the love in the picture. On some level or another, all of that has happened to me, while and while not blogging.

I’m so sorry for all your woes, but just know that we all understand. My dad had heart surgery last year while I was blogging (July) he got an artificial heart, and that was tough. I can’t imagine trying to deal with all the other, and then a baby with a bum leg.

We don’t need pictures. We don’t need recipes. We love you no matter what.

We’ll take you whenever, however. We understand, and have your back always

So glad I just found your site!!!! We used to go to this one when we lived on the Southside– they have obviously updated the equipment. As a result of your posts here ,we will DEFINITELY make the trip here and it will be all the more fun because the boys are older I used to do the scenic walks with my 15-18 (at the time) month old…

Oh my sweet friend. How I know your pain. Same story different chapter on my end. We now have rules like no food around the computers, and my children can only use my Iphone under strict supervision. The day my first phone died, I think I had a heartache. Convulsing. I didn’t want to live without it.

Oh yes, how I can relate to this! Whenever Maya learns a new rule it is apparently her civic duty to make sure every person she comes across follows it. To the point that we all want to shut her up no matter what it takes!!
