Meat with Cantaloupe Relish

I have been playing lately with different “toppings” to put on meat, fish and chicken.  All my attempts of making a creative topping make my husband dream about the Mango Avocado Chicken which I am forced to make the day after.  This topping of Melon Relish is not as sweet more refreshing and minty.  It will work perfectly with Steak or Fish.  Prepare the meat to your liking on the grill.

Melon Relish Ingredients:
1 large cantaloupe
1 medium red onion
1 cup cilantro
1/2 cup mint
2 tbs white balsamic vinegar or cider vinegar
2 tbs olive oil

Array

Remove the seeds for the cantaloupe

Array

slice, chop and dice into cubes

Array

chop the herbs

Array

add to the cantaloupe

Array

Mince the red onion into small pieces and add to the cantaloupe mixture

Array

follow with vinegar

Array

olive oil and toss, sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and serve over nicely grilled piece of meat or fish.  You can make the meat super spicy since the relish is very subtle and cooling.   We just seasoned our meat with salt and pepper and grilled it to medium rare.

It ended up really rare other then the end pieces that went to the toddlers and me and my hubby enjoyed a very new and rare edition of steak tatar.  I still like steak tatar the tradtional way.  It is one of my all time favorite dishes.  If I ever showed you how to make it would you try it?
