Chinese Meatballs

I have really no idea how I happen to make these meatballs for the first time.  I know wanted to venture  away from typical red meatballs and provide toddlers with quick meal.  These make a wonderful finger food and are great in pasta with veggies.

Array

You will need: 1lb of ground turkey or chicken, 1/2 tsp chinese 5 spice mix, 1/2 tsp chili garlic sauce (or sweet chili sauce),1tbs soy sauce,1 egg, 1/2c breadcrumbs, 2 green onions

Array

Preheat the oven to 400 deg.  Slice the green onions.

Array

Add 1/2 tsp chinese five spice mixture

Array

1 tbs soy sauce

Array

1/2 tsp chili sauce

Array

Break in one egg,

Array

and mix everything together

Array

roll them into desired sized balls, it helps if your hands are a little wet that way the mixture will not stick to your hands

Array

Bake in 400 deg oven until golden.  You can at this moment freeze them, eat as finger food or add to pasta.

There are a lot of variations to these meatballs.  First you can add other vegetables like broccoli, corn, red pepper.  You can also add “different” bread crumbs like panko or even plain cereal like rice puffs that have been mixed in a processor.

Yes it is 400 deg, will change it, thanks. And they do taste really good cold, since they are baked and chicken they are not greasy at all.

I am thinking these could be used as part of an oriental inspired meat ball sandwich. Any suggestions for what else would work with them?

If I would include them in an oriental inspired sandwich, I would fill it with crunchy lettuce like romaine, add carrots, snap peas, definately bean sprouts, maybe even avocado for some creamy factor and add peanut thai dressing.

Yummmmmmmmmmm! We just finished gobbling up more meatballs than we should have but who can stop! These are delicious! I made mine with pork as we are huge pork fans and the flavors were wonderful together.
